  1. I was lucky enough to go last night. Anyone who can should try to listen to this broadcast. Anna was even better than she had been a month ago, and Elina was just as good. Their voices blend quite wonderfully, so it was as ravishing a display of bel canto ensemble singing as one is ever likely to hear. In particular Act 1, Scene 2 was completely unforgettable.

  3. I agree. Anna was much better than a month ago. The voice was richer and she seemed more confident.
The reaction of the audience was also clearly more excited.
She was truly fantastic on stage and off stage. When she left the ROH, she was all smile and she filled the place with happiness and kindness. She was stunning and radiant. It was impossible not to love her.
Well, these picture show it enough if you don't believe me ! ;-)))

  5. By a chance I would visit London (from Finland) March the 30 and was lucky enough to buy a ticket 5 weeks ahead (were 3 remaining). That is a night I never forget. Probably the one and only time in my life to hear Anna in a live performance. She is the star of the future: not only a singer of highest class but also a great actress. Thank you Anna, Elina and Royal Opera for this wonderful experience!

  6. I hope you will have more chances to see Anna live. It's a unique experience!

Concerning the release of a dvd from those performances... after her Capuleti in Paris with Joyce DiDonato, someone asked her if a dvd would be realeased from those (Paris) performances. Joyce said that it was not planned, because it was planned to release one with Anna and Elina. This is why I was expecting one from those London performances, but sometime plans change on the way... so, we will have to wait. Up to now, I did not get any info about a video recording from the previous performances. Just BBC3 made an audio recording on 7. April, which will be broadcast on 6. June. Apparently, BBC3 has some commitments with the Met broadcast and this would be the reason for a far away delayed broadcast.

  7. During a backstage tour the guide told us that the BBC would do a RADIO broadcast of "I Capuleti..." and a TV broadcast of a Handel opera. Pity! Why not the other way round? - Apart from that I do agree with all the other comments. The performance of 7th April was absolutely unique. Both Anna and Elina are a "dream couple" on stage. Their voices and their acting fit together perfectly well, their stage presence is overwhelming, and there are a number of male singers who are not able to play such a Romeo as Elina Garanca is. If you ever have the chance to see them together, do EVERYTHING to get a ticket!
