Anna Netrebko will sing in La Bohème, Mariinsky Theater, St. Petersburg 21. Jan 2010

Anna Netrebko will sing the role of Mimi in Puccini's La Bohème at the Mariinsky Theater, St. Petersburg on 21. January 2010.

The cast includes Sergei Semishkur as Rodolfo, Karina Chepurnova as Musetta and Vasily Gerello as Marcello. Mikhail Agrest will conduct the Chorus and Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theater. The production is by Ian Judge.

Metropolitan Opera Announces Three Week Tour To Japan From May 30 to June 20, 2011

The Metropolitan Opera announced plans today to return to Japan for a three-week tour in June 2011, presenting 13 performances of three fully staged operas in Tokyo and Nagoya. The operas will include Puccini’s La Bohème and Verdi’s Don Carlo, both conducted by Met Music Director James Levine, and Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, conducted by Gianandrea Noseda.

Star singers include Ildar Abdrazakov, Piotr Beczala, Olga Borodina, Joseph Calleja, Diana Damrau, Dmitri Hvorostovky, Jonas Kaufmann, Mariusz Kwiecien, Željko Lučić, Anna Netrebko and René Pape.

Performances will begin on June 4 at the Aichi Prefectural Arts Center in Nagoya with La Bohème, starring Anna Netrebko, Susanna Phillips, Piotr Beczala and Mariusz Kwiecien. Piotr Beczala and Joseph Calleja will share the roles of Rodolfo in La Bohème and Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor.

This will be the Met’s seventh tour to Japan; the first was in 1975 and the most recent was in 2006. The tour is being presented by the Japan Arts Corporation of Tokyo and the Crown Sponsor is KDDI. Anna Netrebko was in four performances of Mozart's Don Giovanni of the 2006 Met Tour to Japan, with a strong cast starring Anna Netrebko as Donna Anna, Erwin Schrott as Don Giovanni, Matthew Polenzani as Don Ottavio, Melanie Diener as Donna Elvira, René Pape as Leporello, Magdalena Kozena as Zerlina and Jonathan Lemalu as Masetto.

The 2009 Richard Tucker Music Foundation Gala was held this Sunday 22. November 2009 at the Avery Fisher Hall, NY. The Russian-Austrian soprano Anna Netrebko sang Arditi's "Il Bacio", the duet "O soave fanciulla" from Puccini's "La Bohème" with Matthew Polenzani and, closing out the evening, the Act II, Scene 2 finale from Verdi's La Traviata, with Zeljko Lucic and 2009 Richard Tucker Award winner, tenor Stephen Costello

Sarah B. on her blog Adventures in the Endless Pursuit of Entertainment wrote: "Anna Netrebko was fabulous - her high notes were clear and gorgeous. She wore a strangely cut gown, but wore gorgeous sparkly shoes (that's an A+)".

Anna Netrebko and Piotr Beczala in Roméo et Juliette at the Salzburger Festspiele 2010

Today it has been announced the programme of the Salzburger Festspiele 2010 which runs in Salzburg from 25. July 2010 to 30. August 2010. Piotr Beczala/Stephen Costello and Anna Netrebko/Nino Machaidze sing the title roles of Gounod's Roméo et Juliette. Yannick Nézet-Seguin conducts the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra and Bartlett Sher is the stage director. Nine performances are scheduled on 10., 13., 16., 18., 20., 23., 24., 27. and 30. August 2010. Anna Netrebko together with Piotr Beczala sing in five of them on 10., 13., 16., 20. and 23. August 2010.

Valery Gergiev, Anna Netrebko and Alexei Markov among the winners of the Golden Sofit theatre prize

The awards ceremony for the Golden Sofit, St Petersburg’s most prestigious theatre prize, takes place every autumn at the opening of the new theatre season and sums up the previous theatre year. This ceremony was the fifteenth to be held.

Anna Netrebko has received an award for the title role of John Doyle's production of Lucia di Lammermoor, which was premiered on 14. January 2009 in St. Petersburg.

The young baritone Alexei Markov won the award for his rendition of the role of Robert in Mariusz Treliński’s production of the opera Iolanta.

The Special Prize of the Expert Council for the Revival of the Leningrad Traditions of the Laboratory of Contemporary Opera went to Valery Gergiev.
