Wiener Opernball 2011

The 55th edition of the classical Wiener Opernball, the most glamourous event of the year in Wien, was held at the Wiener Staatsoper on 3. March 2011.



The star mezzo-soprano Elina Garanca was the invited guest to sing in the event. She sang an aria of Saint-Saën's "Samsom et Dalila" and the popular Sieczynski's "Wien, Wien, nur du allein".



Among the invited guests, stars from the opera world like Anna Netrebko with Erwin Schrott and his daugther Iara, Tamar Iveri, Natalia Ushakova and Clemens Unterreiner, the fashion stylist Evelyn Rillé and her husband, the photographer Johannes Ifkovits.



Nevertheless, despite the efforts of ORF2 Austrian TV and to the dissapointment of some of the organizers, the spotlight of the event was the stunning 18 years old italian girl known as Ruby, the star invited guest of the austrian millionaire Richard Lugner. Lugner traveled to Genova in a private jet to pick-up his invited guest Ruby, her real name being Karima El-Mahroug, and bring her to Wien. In Wien, before the Opernball, Ruby gave a press conference and participated in a signing session at Lugner Kinocity and did a photo call session at the Hotel Savoyen.
