The XVIII Music Festival “Stars of the White Nights” opened on 21. May 2010. One of the main highlights of the Festival was the performance of Bizet's "Carmen" at the Mariinsky Theater on 23. May 2010, starring Anna Netrebko as Micaela and Massimo Giordano, making his Mariinsky Theater debut, as Don José. The production, with a Don José dressed as a German Nazi officer, was directed by Alexei Stepanyuk. Tugan Sokhiev conducted the Chorus and Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theater.

Encore une mise en scène ridicule, l'occupation de Séville par l'armée nazi est risible. Et M. Giordano en soldat allemand, lui qui a le visage si doux et du mal à rentrer dans son pantalon.
ReplyDeleteWhen one starts to make changes, can change anything... so, in fact probably the settings are not in Sevilla... I should watch the whole performance or at least some more scenes, but it looks like if the setting is in Morocco, with a Casablanca look alike...
