Anna Netrebko's debut at the mythical italian opera house was in a concert performance singing Mussorgsky's "La Camera dei Bambini" on 7. March 1998. Valery Gergiev conducted the Filarmonica della Scala. The full programme of the concert was as follow:

Two years and a half later, Anna Netrebko came back to the stage of the Teatro alla Scala of Milano to sing the role of Natasha Rostova in Prokofiev's "War and Peace" in two performances on 4. and 5. October 2000. Valery Gergiev, on 4. October, and Gianandrea Noseda, on 5. October, conducted the Chorus and Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theater.
