The Russian-Austrian soprano Anna Netrebko makes her debut performance in Sweden in a concert with the Italian tenor Massimo Giordano at the Stockholm Konserthus, Stockholm on 24. Sep 2009. Maestro Emmanuel Villaume conducted the Kungliga Filharmonikerna.

Sep 2009. Reports
Herbert attended the concert in Stockholm and kindly wrote the following report for the blog:
The evening began with a funny "accident". During the first duet, the heel of Anna's right shoe was stuck in a hole in the stage floor! She slipped out of the shoe, and when she bowed at the end she tried to pull the heel out of the hole, which was not easy. The people began to laugh and she had to laugh too. Massimo Giordano was a gentleman. He picked up the shoe and helped Anna to slip in again. When she returned for her next song, she was barefoot - and she stayed so the whole evening!

Anna was in top form again. Sometimes she turned her back to the audience and looked at the people who sat behind the orchestra. When she sang "Il bacio" and "Meine Lippen...", she danced on the stage and made the audience cheer. In part 2 and during the encores the Stockholm audience rose for standing ovations.

I saw several microphones on the stage and hanging down above the orchestra, so I think the concert must have been recorded. We should have a look at the Swedish radio programmes!

After the performance Anna came out at the stage door, where a van was waiting for her. But she stopped and gave some autographs and posed for photos. She did not stay too long, however, because it was cold outside. When the car began to move she waved to the people standing outside.
Britta attended also the concert and she told me about another funny incident what happened:
During "Caro Elisir sei mio" Anna sat on one of the empty chairs of the trumpet players and flipped through the notes while Massimo was singing. Then, some notes fell down and she looked like: Ups, putting them back with a smile!

Press Reports
Forget the DVD, Blue-ray, Home Theater and Dolby-super-bass, no representation will ever be close to live performances like these. You have just to catch my breath after the concert. And anyone who thought that Netrebko was the evening's sole star, now know that Massimo Giordano is one of the top singers. [...] Netrebko is characterized not only by her strength and presence, she has an elasticity and warmth in her voice that makes it difficult to defend oneself against.
