PRESS REVIEWS
Larry L. Lash, in his review of the premiere on 2. April 2011, wrote for Opera News: Netrebko's assumption of this Donizetti queen takes her one giant leap forward to claiming the title of diva assoluta del mondo. Her huge, plummy voice sounded as beautiful as ever, but her technique showed newfound confidence in passagework, particularly in trills, and seamless runs even to the lowest notes.
George Loomis wrote for the New York Times on 12. April 2011: Ms. Netrebko scored a personal triumph as Anna Bolena, in what may be her greatest achievement since her “Traviata” at the 2005 Salzburg Festival.
BLOG REVIEWS
Blogger CommandOpera, in a terrific review of the premiere on 2. April 2011, wrote: Perhaps the most critically important Operatic performance of this generation took place over the past weekend at the Wiener Staatsoper. Why was this assumption of Miss Netrebko as Anna Bolena of such tremendous stature? Singularly, Miss Netrebko is the only vocal artist today of her rank and presence at this precise moment in time to define where the art form of Opera currently exists.

Beautiful photos. Anna and Elina are singing in this opera at the Met this coming fall. I think it's going to be a very powerful performance.
ReplyDeleteQuality of the pics is amazing! In particular for those taken at the stage door, you can't imagine the amount of people who was around Elina. Not easy to take a pic. All the cameras were up over the heads of the crowd, trying to cath a pic of her. Anna, Ildebrando and Elisabeth were sitting inside and a lof of people were blocking the door.
Gracias Carlos
ReplyDeleteMany thanks to Hiroya and Helmut for their permission to post on the Blog their stunning collection of photos!
ReplyDeleteAnna looks a little bit worried in one of the last pics, when she was leaving the stage door after having been there signing autographs for more than 30 minutes. This is because a young asin girl who was trying to catch her felt on the ground.
ReplyDeleteCarlos,
ReplyDeleteThanks as always for posting the wonderful photos. I am looking forward to seeing this at the MET this fall. I am thrilled you were able to share with Anne, Keiku and the rest of the world
After having seen what was about in Wien, I am sure that the premiere at the Met will be a huge operatic event, later on amplified worldwide with the live transmission to movie theaters.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing Carlos and thanks to the terrific photographers for the amazing "close up and personal" pics. Even on TV it was a fantastic experience, looking forward to revisit the opera in opera cinema LIVE from the MET later in the season.
ReplyDeleteFelicitaciones a Helmut Flatscher por sus excelentes fotos, supo captar bellísimas tomas de Anna. Se aprecia calidad HD.
ReplyDeleteBellísima Anna!
